Leadership

The League is looking for a few good leaders!

The LFAW Board of Directors seeks compassionate, engaged, community-connected members to join the organization’s Board for the 2026-27 term, as the League expands to meet our community’s needs. Trustees can expect to:

  • Be fully engaged in securing financial resources to meet budgetary needs, including a meaningful personal financial commitment to advance the organization’s needs;
  • Identify and leverage connections and networks to enhance fundraising, offer professional expertise, enrich reputational standing, and provide other resources that serve the League’s mission and operations;
  • Be excited about organizational development and growth that responds to the needs of the community and the moment;
  • Actively advocate for the organization and its mission in the community;
  • Engage in strategic planning that reflects the organization’s mission; the community’s needs; and the industry’s standards;
  • Seek learning opportunities to better understand the community we serve and our industry;
  • Work collaboratively and constructively with other Trustees and the League’s leadership, including attending and conscientiously engaging in monthly meetings;
  • Be familiar with and committed to the role of a Board and its members.

As part of an active and passionate Board, Trustees as a collective work to:

  • Create and support the mission of the organization, ensuring programs and strategic planning adheres to that mission;
  • Select and support the Executive Director;
  • Fundraise and create resources adequate to support the mission and annual operations;
  • Provide fiduciary oversight and financial management;
  • Enhance the organization’s public image;
  • Ensure the legal and ethical integrity of the organization.

For further information about joining the League’s Board or to submit interest, please contact the League’s President at jstanton@tql.com and the League’s Executive Director at devon@lfaw.org.

The League is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership for a three year term. There are at least five and no more than fifteen Directors. The terms are staggered with roughly one-third of the positions coming up each year.

In addition, the Board may fill vacant slots by appointment. Individuals appointed by the Board serve until their term is up and then must be elected at the Annual Meeting in January to remain on the Board.

The Board elects Officers annually from among the Directors. Officers and Board Members are volunteers and are not compensated for their service.
