Other Volunteer Opportunities

There are important ways to volunteer your time outside of the shelter or without having animal contact as well. Here are some other programs to which you can volunteer your time:

Satellite Adoptions
Volunteers help out by manning booths and handling adoptable pets at our satellite adoptions, where we bring animals available for adoption to pet supply stores and community events. Having more volunteers available for these events allows us to market our animals to more potential adopters as well as recruit new volunteers and members.  Duties involved range from cleaning the adoption van before or after an event to setting up at the event to handling animals and talking to the public about the League’s activities.  If you are interested in joining the team, please contact van@lfaw.org.
Special Events
Each year, the League for Animal Welfare hosts at least four major events. We are always looking for volunteers to help plan and organize these fundraisers.
Selling Entertainment Books
This program can be done from the comfort of your own home. If you would like to be a sales representative for your area, please contact us at lfaw@fuse.net.
Gardening
We have a team of volunteers that plant seasonal flowers and care for them, but could always use more help keeping the shelter grounds looking great.
Maintenance
We have a team of volunteer handymen who are swamped with maintanence needs. Team Fix It takes care of keeping up with the smoke detectors and light bulbs, replacing rope on kitty condos, replacing dog doors, painting, and SO much more - they need all the help they can get!
Fundraising
Many stores throughout our area love to have giftwrapping help during the holidays - any holiday! The stores provide the supplies and all our volunteers need to do is show up with information about the League and a donation jar and start wrapping! This is a great way for us to raise money for our spay/neuter assistance program.
Education
The League offers age-appropriate pet education programs to schools, scout troops, libraries, church organizations, and more. To become part of education team, please send us an e-mail.

The general orientation session is the best place to start if you are interested in any of these opportunities, as it will help you become familiar with our shelter and its needs.
