The League is a partner of the UCAN Spay/Neuter Clinic and offers a monthly transport from our shelter to the clinic. Reservations for the transport can be made by calling the shelter. Please visit www.ucanclinic.org for prices and other information.
Our spay/neuter assistance program offers a voucher for up to two pets per household that entitles you to a spay or neuter subsidized by the League for Animal Welfare in the amount of $15 per cat and/or $25 per dog. There are no income restrictions. To receive a voucher, please contact the shelter at (513) 735-2299 or e-mail sarah@lfaw.org. If e-mailing, please indicate how many and which type of pets you would like a voucher (for example, 2 dog neuters), as well as your name, telephone number, vet preference, and mailing address. Please note that it takes three to four business days to process and mail a voucher, so time your request accordingly if an appointment for surgery has already been made.
Get the Facts:
Spaying or neutering your pet will not make him/her fat or lazy. Overfeeding and lack of exercise make pets fat.
Spaying or neutering your pet can decrease the risk of diseases that are expensive to treat.
Neutered cats are less likely to spray (urine-marking). Neutered dogs are less likely to roam or have aggression problems. Any changes in your pet’s disposition after the surgery will be positive.
More than 33,000 adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized every year in the tri-state area alone simply because there are not enough homes for all of them.
