SUNSHINE!  GRILLS!  GAMES!  FRIENDS AND COMPANIONS!  RAFFLE!  AUCTION!

It’s time to mark your calendar!  The annual League “Family” Picnic will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016  from 4pm-7pm. (with a rain date of June 25).  Located in the picnic area on the League grounds, it’s time to bring our family together – donors, volunteers, adopters and staff – all the people who make the League such a special place.

Oh, and of course, our family is not complete without our four-legged “children.”  So, please feel free to bring your spayed/neutered, leashed and vaccinated dog for special games with League animal trainer Donna and the always-popular alumni parade.

There will be live music, good food, fun games, a silent auction and other great activities.  More details about these will be forthcoming, but for now, there are a few IMPORTANT announcements:

  • SILENT AUCTION items are currently being collected. Gift certificates, handmade jewelry, garden items, etc. are all very much appreciated.  Items can be dropped off to Davina Prebble at the League during open hours, or if anything needs to be picked up, contact her at 513-735-2299 or davina@LFAW.org.
  • RAFFLE TICKETS are on sale now. New this year: get your tickets online!  Tickets are $1.00 each or $10 for eleven tickets!  Best of all, you only need to fill out one ticket and the computer will do the rest! Download the raffle ticket form here. You can also purchase raffle tickets at the front desk at the League.
  • VOLUNTEERS are needed. We can’t have the picnic without YOU!  Please start planning now to help with preparations or the day of the picnic.  To sign up to help with the picnic please contact Volunteer Manager, Justin Tucker at justin@LFAW.org or call 513-735-2299 X205

As always, the League will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, both regular, vegetarian and vegan water and soda. To go with them, if your last name starts with A-G, please bring a dessert, H-Z, a side to share.  It’s always fun to enjoy everybody’s best “pot-luck” dishes!

So, a bit about the branches of our family tree:

Donors – The League is a privately funded organization, dependent on our donors, sponsors and patrons for our shelter to survive.  Their gifts fund the daily operations of the shelter, and help us provide enrichment programs and other valuable animal welfare programs.

Adopters – These are the wonderful people who give our animals forever homes, providing them love and security.  We hope you will bring your dogs (leashed, up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered).  They must also be with a person at all times.  There will be games for the dogs and a parade of alumni dogs.  And while the cats won’t be with us at the picnic, we don’t ever forget about them and the wonderful people who adopt them.

Volunteers – Our volunteers do more for the League than we can possibly list.  They give their time to help socialize our animals and enrich their lives.  They help with events, laundry, cleaning and so much more.  In fact, they are helping put on the picnic.  VOLUNTEERS ARE GREAT!!!

Staff – Staff members work to make the shelter a friendly, inviting place.  Staff work with all the other branches of the “family” tree to help make the League successful.  They keep the shelter clean, the animals fed, and most importantly, provide our animals with love on a daily basis.

Oh, don’t forget your raffle tickets!!!!!  $1 eachor $10 for eleven tickets!

We will be sharing more information so keep checking our website and our Facebook page!
